Attorney Patrick Roberts has served as an Assistant District Attorney in three North Carolina counties. He is a graduate of Duke University School of Law. Mr. Roberts has extensive criminal trial experience in North Carolina. He knows his way around the courtroom and knows how to effectively represent people accused of crimes. Before entering private practice, Mr. Roberts trained new prosecutors as part of his ongoing responsibilities. He maintains extensive contacts throughout the criminal justice system.
As an Assistant District Attorney in Wake County, Mr. Roberts prosecuted felony and misdemeanor charges, including felony drug trafficking charges, violent crimes, and DWI offenses. Between 2006 and 2007, Mr. Roberts tried more than 20 criminal jury trials. Over that period, he was responsible for handling all DWI appeal jury trials in Wake County.
As an Assistant District Attorney in Johnston County, Patrick Roberts exclusively worked on felony cases, including those involving the sale, distribution, manufacture and trafficking of cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines, and ecstasy. In court, he handled probable cause hearings, pretrial motions and motions to suppress.
As a prosecutor in New Hanover County, Mr. Roberts served as a special prosecutor for domestic violence crimes and juvenile court matters. He also handled numerous felony matters, including armed robberies, sexual assaults and property crimes. In addition, he served as the Drug Treatment Court prosecutor, where he worked with persons struggling to overcome drug addiction.
