RALEIGH, NC - When a father was accused of forcing his 6-year-old daughter to perform oral sex on him, the man turned to North Carolina criminal defense lawyer Patrick Roberts of Roberts Law Group. - A polygraph expert: A polygraph expert was used to conduct a test to ascertain the truthfulness of the reports of the incident. The results of the polygraph test helped to raise questions about the witnesses and child accuser's accounts of the alleged sex crime.
- A child psychology and forensic expert: A forensic expert was hired to evaluate the post-incident interviews of the adult witnesses and the techniques used to interview the child about her experiences with her father. The expert found fault with the interview methodology and the results. The issues raised by the expert were helpful for the defense.
- A private investigator: Relying on the expertise of a private investigator was important in this case to identify possible motives for the child molestation allegations. The private investigator uncovered information about the accuser and her family to show the diminished credibility of the claim. Due to Mr. Roberts' exhaustive efforts, the ADA ultimately relented to the criminal defense arguments and dismissed all charges against the man.
