A man that police in Raleigh, North Carolina, say raped a teenage girl has surrendered on the charges. There are three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and six counts of statutory rape against the man.

He is currently being held on a bail of $250,000. He also has another charge of being a fugitive, which also has a bail of $250,000. The latter charge has to do with a crime involving dangerous drugs in 1996 in New Jersey.

According to the arrest warrants, the man was in a sexual relationship with the girl when she was 14 and 15 years of age. The sexual relationship allegedly started in April 2014 and continued until February 2016.

A sex crime charge can have a significant impact on your life. It is one of the charges that the media tends to follow and you may feel as though you have already been proven guilty before you even have a chance to have your say. While you may believe that you are having sex with a teenager legally because he or she gave his or her consent, the laws state that the age of consent in North Carolina is 16. That is the minimum age that someone can be to agree to have sexual relations.

Fighting sex crime charges is important. You’ll want to make sure your defense strategy is solid and can show the judge and jury why you should not be found guilty of the crime. These are often difficult cases to defend, but an experienced attorney can help you understand your legal options.
