A man from Raleigh is being held on 900,000 bail on charges of child sex crimes. The 59-year-old man was charged by Raleigh Police Department detectives who handle crimes against children.

The alleged crimes occurred last year through the middle of April of this year. The charges are taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory sex offense with a child under 15 years old. These two charges are for one alleged victim.

There is another alleged victim, and the man faces two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child for that girl as well. The ages of the girls were not released. According to police, the man knew both of the alleged victims before the reported offenses started.

When someone is charged with crimes against a child, it can affect his or her job and ability to obtain housing. It can also have an effect on relationships with family and friends. The defendant may feel as though he or she has been found guilty before even going to court.

The media has a tendency to portray those charged with sex crimes against children as guilty before they appear in court, too. While no child should ever be subjected to any criminal action, a defendant does have a right to a fair trial and to appeal an unfavorable verdict.

If you have been charged with a crime against a child, it is important to begin planning your defense as soon as possible. An experienced criminal defense attorney can provide options for your defense as well as guidance on how to proceed.
