A personal note from attorney Benjamin Lankford:
I was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. After graduating from Grimsley High School in 2006, I received my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and my law degree from Wake Forest University. Since law school, I have been working for Patrick Roberts, founder and managing partner at Roberts Law Group. For the first few years, I worked at Roberts Law Group's main office in Raleigh, NC. During my time in Raleigh, I worked with Patrick to resolve some of the firm's most serious and complex cases.
Now I am back in my hometown practicing criminal law in Guilford and surrounding counties (including Forsyth, Rockingham, Alamance, and Randolph Counties).
The Confidence You Need to Hire Roberts Law Group, PLLC
An attorney never stops learning to "master the craft," as Patrick Roberts says. With that said, criminal law is all is about results, as the outcome of a case often determines the course of a client's future. For example, a drug trafficking case I worked in Greensboro involved a man with a serious criminal history who was facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 70 to 93 months. Although the client had done several years in prison previously, he had by all appearances turned his life around when he was charged with heroin trafficking. Ultimately, I was able to enter this client into a "first offenders" program, and he will have all of his charges dismissed upon completion of probation.* As a result, the client was not only able to keep his freedom, but also his job, business, and visitation with his child. In another case, a federal district court referred to my writing as "one of the best memorandums he had read in a criminal case." The memo was a sentencing position paper which argued for a mitigated sentence for a client facing 20 years for his involvement in a mortgage fraud conspiracy charged under the federal RICO statute. The client ended up receiving a sentence below the recommended sentencing range for his offense.*
I mention these examples to give you the confidence you need to hire Roberts Law Group, if you are facing criminal charges in Greensboro.
I Love This Job
For a long time, I have known that I would end up practicing criminal law in Greensboro. During law school, I tried my first DWI case in Greensboro while interning with the Guilford County Public Defender's office. And I understand how important it is to bring some balance to our criminal justice system. Whether it's avoiding prison or restoring a client's driver's license, the best part of my job is guiding clients through tough situations and fighting to put them in the best position for their futures.
