A North Carolina 17-year-old is dead after being found in wooded area north of Spring Lake. Two men stationed at Fort Bragg have been charged with 1st degree murder in connection with the death of the teen.

The two men, both 20 years old, have been charged in North Carolina with the murder of the 17-year-old Spring Lake man. The men were stationed at Fort Bragg after being in the military since 2009. Neither man has ever been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. The soldiers were in the 82nd Airborne Division. They were both truck drivers in the same Army unit.

The body of the 17-year-old was sent to the Chapel Hill medical examiner for a full autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Murder charges against members of the military are uncommon. Misdemeanor crimes committed while in the military, however, such as drug crimes and DWI crimes can have serious consequences on military career.

All branches of the armed forces take a tough stance on crimes committed while active in the military. To fight for your rights after being charged with a North Carolina crime, contact an experienced criminal defense attorney.
