October DWI Checkpoint Nets 53 Charges in North Carolina

A late October DWI checkpoint in Reidsville led to 53 criminal charges such as DWI, operating without a license and open container. The DWI checkpoint was held on October 22 into October 23 at Barnes Street, Highway 87, Holiday Loop and Freeway Drive, according to the Reidsville Police Department.

Nine Indicted of Fraud for Role in Staged Car Accidents

Nine close friends and family members were indicted on insurance fraud charges after allegedly staging car accidents. The nine people are from both North Carolina and South Carolina. They were indicted on the fraud charges in a Polk County grand jury and are scheduled to appear November 30.

The driver of a bus traveling from North Carolina to New York City that crashed outside of Richmond in late May has been charged with four counts of vehicular manslaughter. The Sky Express discount bus crashed on May 31 along Interstate 95 and killed four women riding the bus.
