Special Operation Nabs 57 Alleged Criminal Offenders

In Lincolnton, North Carolina, local law enforcement agencies teamed up to run the "16 Days of Christmas." The special operation started on December 5 with the goal of rounding up drug offenders throughout the area. During the 16 day period, 57 of the 99 offenders were arrested and charged with various drug crimes.

Six Men Charged with Robbery After Forcing Businessman to Empty Safe

Six North Carolina men have been indicted for their role in robbing a Mooresville car dealership owner of $1.5 million in July. The men allegedly broke into the man's home where he kept a large safe with money from his used car business. The men threatened to kill his children if he did not comply with their demands during the North Carolina robbery.

More Than 30 Percent of Americans Arrested by Age 23

A new study by Pediatrics released Monday shows that nearly one in three is arrested by law enforcement officer by the age of 23. Arrest is a shared experience for more than 30 percent of Americans. A 44 year old study showed that only 22 percent of Americans had been under arrest by age 23 but this new study puts that number at 30.2 percent.

Former City Council Candidate Pleads Not Guilty to Racketeering Charges

A former Greensboro city council candidate and five other accused gang members have plead not guilty to federal charges of racketeering in District Court. The man is the leader of the North Carolina Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation.

Medicaid Fraud Charges Filed Against 18 North Carolina Healthcare Employees

Eighteen people have been arrested in North Carolina in connection with a scheme to defraud Medicaid with false payments. According to the state Justice Department, thirteen home health employees, a speech therapist and operator of a group home have all been arrested on fraud charges.

New Survey Cites High Number of Domestic Violence Incidents Goes Unreported

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a survey of 9,000 women to learn about the prevalence of domestic violence. The results of the survey showed that one in four women say that they have been the victim of serious violence.

DWI Checkpoint Mobile Testing Bus Involved in Collision Late Saturday

A 21-year-old man crashed into the back of a mobile testing bus while officers and a magistrate were closing down a DWI checkpoint around 3 a.m. Saturday. Police officers suspect that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The man was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center after losing consciousness following the rear-end collision.
