Assistant Principal, Two Teachers Arrested For NC Sex Offenses

A former assistant principal with the Randolph County Schools, an elementary teacher in Hildebran and an Onslow County band teacher have all be arrested recently on unrelated sex offense charges involving minors.

Myron Hendrix was charged with Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor according to WFMY News Channel 2. He became an assistant principal in the Randolph County School system in 2007. He resigned in May when local law enforcement was brought in to investigate allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct.

Michael Alexander taught elementary students in Hildebran for seven years before he was arrested for sex offenses including sexual exploitation of a child and indecent liberties with a child, according to the Hickory Daily Record. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) were involved in the criminal investigation of Alexander. A computer was confiscated from the school where Alexander worked, leading to speculation that the sex offenses involved internet use.

Finally, Christopher Howard, a high school band teacher in Onslow County, was arrested for sex offenses involving a student, according to NBC 17. Howard allegedly started an inappropriate relationship with a now-17-year-old student in 2007 following a band concert. Howard was the 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year at Jacksonville High School. He also served as chair of the Fine Arts department.
