Accused But Not Convicted? Hands Off My DNA!

Alonzo King was arrested for assault in 2009. Under Maryland's DNA Collection Act, law enforcement took a DNA sample from him without a warrant. The Act allows police to collect DNA samples from anyone arrested for (not convicted of) certain felony charges, including burglary, attempted burglary, a violent crime or an attempt at a violent crime.

Bragg And South East Street HotSpots For Cocaine Arrests

Seven people were arrested on drug offenses including cocaine possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver and conspiracy on or near Bragg and South East Street in Raleigh last Friday. Two others were arrested on cocaine charges the night before as well.

Credit Card Fraud Scheme Busted In Wake County

The discovery of a UPS package containing marijuana led federal investigators to a Raleigh home on Resevoir Road that had all the materials necessary for making fake credit cards. Nelson Alvarez-Vasquez and three others were charged with fraud for producing the fake credit cards.

Statutory Rape Laws Need Overhaul Nationwide

An 18-year-old high school senior served a year in jail for having sex with his 14-year-old girlfriend. The young couple lived in Michigan, where the age of consent is 16. The senior, Ken Thornsberry, was convicted of statutory rape despite the sex act(s) being consensual between the two teens.

Possible 8+ Criminal Charges For Knightdale Man Facing DWI

Thirty-year-old Omar Rodriguez of Knightdale was charged with impaired driving after failing a BAC (blood-alcohol-concentration) test. Defending against the DWI charge may be the least of his worries however, Wake County officers had pulled him over after broke into two cars and rammed a third with his own truck.

Man Attempted To Rape Woman After Bumping Bike Tire With SUV

During an early-morning grocery run, a 22-year-old woman claims that she was sexually assaulted by 29-year-old Philippe Warren Joseph Saieed. Saieed reportedly bumped her with his SUV while she was riding her bike home from the grocery store in Cameron Village. He then offered her a ride home, but instead of taking her home, attempted to rape her on a side street. She escaped from the alleged assault and reported the attempted sex offense to the police.

Lost Cell Phone Contained Video Of Sex Offenses Against Minor

A cell phone found at a Florida Wal-Mart that contained photos and videos of various sex acts being performed on a minor lead to the arrest of a 33-year-old man and 37-year-old woman on related sex offenses. Police were able to track the phone number to Jennifer A. Sparks and an email address on the phone to Alan Robert Johnson.

8 Pounds Of Marijuana, Cash, Seized In Drug Bust

Five people, between the ages of 20 and 45, were arrested on drug charges in Greenville during a recent drug enforcement operation in Granville County. Officers seized marijuana, ecstasy (MDMA), drug paraphernalia and about $1000 in cash in the bust.
