Raleigh couple charged for possession of 3 different drugs

When police make an arrest for drug charges, often the charges themselves have a way of multiplying. What could be seen as a single transgression – being found in possession of a controlled substance – can easily result in multiple charges. These could include charges for trafficking, conspiracy charges or charges for maintaining a home or vehicle as a place to hold or sell drugs.

Multiple varieties of drugs also result in multiple charges. When one is found in possession of a number of different controlled substances, he or she could be charged for possession for each one.

This was the case for two Raleigh residents, who are now facing multiple charges related to drug crimes. A 24-year-old man was initially arrested for marijuana possession – two counts for possession of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute. The total marijuana uncovered at the scene totaled approximately 7.7 ounces. Police also uncovered approximately 30 grams of hashish – a more potent form of marijuana.

The arrest was conducted at the home of a 23-year-old woman. She was allegedly found in possession of a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen. Oxycodone is a prescription painkiller; acetaminophen is better known as Tylenol. Between 4 and 14 grams of this mixture was found at the scene.

The woman was charged with two counts of trafficking in opiates and maintaining a vehicle as a place to sell drugs. Both people are currently awaiting court dates. The 24-year-old man is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail, while the woman is held in lieu of $150,000.
