Second Grand Jury Votes To Indict Charlotte Police Officer

A Charlotte police officer was indicted on voluntary manslaughter charges this week, the second opportunity a Grand Jury has had to consider the facts and charges in the case. The first Grand Jury to review the shooting death of Jonathan Ferrell declined to indict the Charlotte cop, Randall Kerrick, on voluntary manslaughter charges. That Grand Jury had requested the case be resubmitted with lesser charges.

$100,000 Goes Missing, Embezzlement Indictment Take Its Place

A former North Carolina fire chief is facing embezzlement charges. The former head of a volunteer fire department has been accused of taking at least $100,000 from the organization, based on reports of the charges filed against him. The grand jury returned a true bill on embezzlement and larceny charges against the Robeson County fire chief, meaning he was indicted on the financial crimes. He self-surrendered to authorities after the indictment.

Raleigh Judge And DWI Attorney Investigated BY SBI For Wrongdoing

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating former Wake County Judge Kristin Ruth, Raleigh DWI defense attorney James Crouch and two of his legal assistants in connection with at least a dozen DWI cases that were allegedly mishandled. Judge Ruth stepped down from the bench a month ago after 13 years of service but denies knowingly taking part in the bad acts under investigation.
